LIST PICK

BLUE BENDY GLOSSO BABEL

Following up their late 2020 offering and previous List Pick 'International', South London-based sextet Blue Bendy describe 'Glosso Babel' as "its direct counterpart". Whilst both tracks were recorded in Haringey with Margo Broom, 'Glosso Babel' is considerably longer and ever so slightly more subdued (for the most part). Drawing more tangible similarities to some of their cited references including the brilliant Broadcast, Stereolab and Deerhoof, scratchy synths, chiming acoustic guitars and intriguing changes in dynamics add some interesting points of difference to their otherwise rocky set-up. Lyrically Arthur Nolan explains: "I had a sudden change of lifestyle, one day I was constantly moving and the next I was sinisterly still. I was alone in a strange self-contained bedsit with alienating neighbours. And I’m sure anyone who’s spent anytime in their own company will tell you, narcissistic grand delusions of impending fame shortly follow." Check it out here now. -Holly Mullineaux
